RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Troubleshoot and resolve protection system issues to ensure reliable and safe operation of electrical systems.
• Design and implement advanced protection schemes for electrical systems, ensuring optimal system reliability and safety.
• Conduct thorough fault analysis and simulations to validate protection settings and enhance system performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate protection systems with overall grid management and automation solutions.
• Oversee the commissioning and testing of protection relays and devices, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for protection system designs, settings, and operational procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and field personnel on protection system operations.
• Monitor and analyze system performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and innovation.
• Participate in root cause analysis of protection system failures and develop strategies to mitigate future risks.
• Engage in project management activities, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation for protection engineering projects.
• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to protection engineering.
• Lead and manage the design, testing, and implementation of protection systems for electrical infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in protection engineering.
• Provide technical expertise and support to project teams during the planning and execution phases.
• Develop and review protection system specifications, drawings, and calculations.
• Conduct field tests and inspections to verify the proper operation of protection devices.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred for advanced understanding.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is highly desirable to validate expertise and credibility.
• Strong knowledge of protection relay settings, coordination studies, and fault analysis software tools.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software such as ETAP, SEL-5030, and MATLAB for simulation and analysis.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex engineering challenges.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment while leading projects and initiatives.
• Fluency in English is required; additional languages  are a plus for international collaboration.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in protection engineering within the power sector or utility industry.
• A proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field.
