Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations and international standards.
– Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and assess risk, ensuring that appropriate corrective actions are taken.
– Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices, providing guidance and support to project teams.
– Lead safety training sessions for employees and subcontractors, ensuring everyone is informed about safety procedures and emergency response plans.
– Investigate accidents and incidents, compiling reports and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
– Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to integrate safety into all phases of construction projects.
– Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and corrective actions taken.
– Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices in health, safety, and environmental management.
– Promote a culture of safety awareness among all employees and stakeholders, encouraging open communication about safety concerns.
– Assist in the development of project-specific safety plans and risk assessments.
REQUIREMENTS:
– Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
– A minimum of 4+ years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management within the construction industry.
– Strong knowledge of local and international HSE regulations and standards.
– Certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is highly desirable.
– Proven experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and safety training.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage with all levels of staff.
– Strong leadership abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
– Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
– Willingness to travel to various construction sites as required.
