Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Pre-production
• Receive, review, and analyse incoming production briefs; participate in briefing
sessions with the Multimedia and Brand Production Manager and relevant
stakeholders to clarify objectives, deliverables, and creative direction.
• Contribute to the development of storyboards and editorial structures for assigned
productions, working from briefs provided by the Multimedia and Brand Production
Manager or Brand Marketing Manager.
• Create moodboards and reference materials to establish the look, feel, and tone of
productions before editing begins.
• Identify and retrieve suitable archival footage from the team’s internal back
catalogue and licensed online libraries to support productions.
• Liaise with the Video Technician and Multimedia Assistant on shoot requirements,
technical specifications, and footage handoff protocols to ensure post-production
receives camera-ready material.

2. Editing and Post-production
• Edit and post-produce video content across a wide range of institutional formats —
including documentary, interview, promotional, research communication, and social
media — to a consistently high standard.
• Apply transitions, motion graphics, and effects to create engaging, well-crafted
content that reflects Client’s visual identity and editorial standards.
• Produce 2D motion graphics and animated sequences as the team’s primary motion
graphics owner; work to the visual language and brand guidelines established by the
Design and Brand Lead.
• Undertake colour correction and colour grading to a professional standard, ensuring
visual consistency within and across productions.
• Mix and master audio tracks, including music, voice-over, and ambient sound, to
broadcast-quality standards.
• Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, maintaining quality and meeting
delivery deadlines across concurrent productions.
• Transcode and prepare finalised projects in the correct formats for delivery across
web, social media, YouTube, campus LED screens, and other channels as required.

Competencies:

Behavioural:
• Strong creative editorial sensibility: able to make independent judgements about
pacing, structure, tone, and visual storytelling that elevate raw footage into
compelling content.
• Collaborative and communicative: works effectively as part of a small creative team,
shares production information proactively, and contributes constructively to team
planning.
• Meticulous attention to detail in editing, colour accuracy, audio quality, and DAM
compliance.
• Highly organised: manages time efficiently across concurrent productions, meets
deadlines reliably, and keeps Asana records current.
• Adaptable and resilient: comfortable working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced
environment, and willing to work outside regular office hours when required.
• Able to interact professionally with people at all levels of seniority across a large,
multicultural institution.
Technical:
• Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve for editing,
colour grading, and multi-format delivery.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe After Effects for 2D motion graphics and animated
sequences.
• Solid understanding of colour science, colour grading workflows, and LUT
management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:
• Minimum 5 years’ professional experience as a video editor in a large organisation
or creative agency, with a strong portfolio demonstrating editorial range and postproduction quality.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve across a
range of production formats.
• Proven motion graphics experience in Adobe After Effects, including 2D animation
and typographic sequences.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously to tight deadlines without
compromising quality.
Desirable:
• Experience in institutional, corporate, or higher education video production —
particularly in science, research, or documentary-style storytelling.
• Experience with 3D animation software (e.g. Cinema 4D, Blender) is an asset.
• Familiarity with Avid Media Composer in legacy or broadcast contexts.
• Experience working alongside or directing camera operators on location productions.
